If you’ve been trying to make money online for any amount of time you will probably have noticed that the industry is changing (for the most part) and part of that change is that many prospects who are looking for products to buy are taking a closer look at the people they are buying from in order to get to know them better.

While it’s still possible to be a relatively anonymous affiliate depending on the ways in which you generate traffic to offers, if you are interested in creating and selling your own internet marketing products there’s very little chance that you will be successful doing this without creating an online presence for yourself.

When people are trying to decide if they should buy one of your products what do you think would be more useful to them, bits and pieces of information scattered all over the web they find from a search engine or a fully functional website dedicated to teaching them about who you are and what you can offer to them if they choose your products? The beauty of investing the time and effort in developing a blog is that it provides you with a platform by which to educate people about who you are and what you stand for in the internet marketing industry, regardless of how long you’ve been in it.

This is a place where you are able to tell people the story of your journey, why you decided to get into the business in the first place, and share with them all the things you have learned along the way. You can tell them about the latest product you have been testing and the results you are getting, you can share with them any frustrations that you may be having while trying to build your business and you can even tell them about what you did in the weekend if you want, the choice is yours. And do you know what? People will be interested in getting to know you especially if they are interested in your products or even the products of other people that you have tried and tested because people like to make a connection when it comes to making money online. In my opinion, there is nothing worse about coming across a product or a recommendation for a product and not knowing anything about the person who is telling me about it.

With so many people taking the easy route and simply copying and pasting the latest written by someone else review or jumping on the bandwagon of the latest launch it can be extremely difficult to know who you are dealing with when you are a customer. However, if I can do a quick search and find out a ton of information about the writer of the review I just read and it interests me, or even appears to be a real person this is likely to sway my decision to trust that person and their recommendations.

So creating and maintaining your own blog is arguably one of the most important things you should be doing as an internet marketer. It doesn’t have to be the flashiest website in the world, simply find a template or design that you like which is easy on the eye and stick with it, even the most basic of blogs can be worth thousands of dollars when used the right way. Don’t be afraid to tell people about it either, include the address in your emails and comment on other people’s blogs with a link back to your own so if people search for your name and find it on someone else blog they can still find their way to your site to find out more about you.

Last but not least, don’t be afraid to let people know who you are and what you stand for, use your blog as a way of voicing your opinion and talking directly to your audience, think of it as your own little soapbox upon which to get your word out. Commit to creating and maintaining your blog and it will repay you many times over!
